Basil Cream Sauce is so easy!
After sautéing the onion and garlic, you simply toss all the ingredients into the food processor and process for a good minute or two until the sauce is a creamy texture.

Basil Cream Sauce. Fresh Basil, onions, garlic, sour cream. Room temperature or cold this sauce is bursting with fresh basil flavor. Pasta, get ready.
Ingredients
- 3 cups packed fresh Basil
- 1 cup (8 oz) light sour cream
- 1 cup diced onions
- 2 smaller or 1 large clove garlic, minced (about 2 Teaspoons)
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 to 1 Teaspoon salt
- 1/4 Teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
Instructions
- Rinse fresh Basil and drain. Tear off the leaves, lay to the side, and discard the stems.
- Pack 3 cups with the fresh Basil leaves then put the Basil leaves into food processor
- Add the olive oil to a small skillet. Add the onion and garlic and saute over medium heat. Add the 1/2 to 1 Teaspoon salt to the onions while cooking (this will help the onions sweat and cook faster.) Cook until the onions have turned clear and softened.
- Once cooked, add the onions and garlic to the food processor.
- Add the sour cream and black pepper to the food processor and process for 1 to 2 minutes until creamy.
- Toss with your favorite pasta immediately or put into the refrigerator to use later.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- After being in the refrigerator for several hours this sauce thickens and makes a great dip for veggies or crackers. Also makes a sauce for extra flavor on potatoes and veggies.
- Air is Basil’s enemy so be sure and store it in an air tight container.
